Heavenly Blue in Bloom

Morning Glory (Ipomoea tricolor), Heavenly Blue is by far my favourite flower. The transient blooms really are a joy to behold.

The plant has a rich history of medical use, especially amongst the Chinese, who found Morning Glory useful for its laxative properties.


Ancient Mesoamerican civilisations utilised the plant's sulfur to help manufacture bouncy rubber balls.


But it was the plant's more shamanic properties, utilised chiefly by the Aztec priests in Mexico that led me to grow Morning Glory as part of my Magickal Plants photo-project. I will go into a little more detail about this aspect of the plant's history and also publish a few of my Magickal Plants photographs of Morning Glory in a future post)...
