Sweyne's Eye ~ Confucius Stature

My favourite statue in the whole of Swansea is this one - a large figure of the Chinese philosopher, Confucius. It can be found, with a little effort, on the grounds of Swansea University and was donated to them by the European Federation of Chinese Organisations as a symbol of China and Chinese culture.

These photographs can be found is this issue of my Swansea photography zine, Sweyne's Eye.

Sweyne's Eye ~ The Green Man of Kilvey Hill

This was a pretty cool discovery I happened upon whilst taking a walk up Kilvey Hill a few years back - a Green Man king sculpture:

The above photographs can be found in this issue of my Sweyne's Eye zine.

Sweyne's Eye ~ High Street Graffiti

This glorious and eye-catching artwork was designed by Photoni Matsi. Station to Station, the arts group responsible for decorating  Swansea's once-troubled High Street with pieces of public art, advertised the work with the statement "...you asked for more colour on Swansea High Street, this spring we are delivering it!":

The graffiti features both on the cover and within the pages of Sweyne's Eye ~ 2016 (Part Three):

Clap for the NHS - Swansea (April 09, 2020)

Here is an audio recording of Clap for the NHS I made on April 09, 2020. As usual with my audio recordings, this is best heard with a good set of headphones:

Sweyne's Eye ~ A Dusky Swansea Bay

Really missing the beach during this UK wide lock down. I guess I gave to make these looking through some of my photographs of my previous walks along my local beach.

You can see these, and more images of Swansea, in my photography zine Sweyne's Eye ~ 2016 (Issue 2).

Sweyne's Eye ~ Marina Shed Doors

My last pics I will share from Sweyne's Eye ~ 2014-15. The pic is of shed doors down in Swansea Marina. Of you would like to see more of the images, you can purchase the photography zine here.

This artwork features on the doors of a boat shed in Swansea Marina, and uses the symbolism of doors to represents the passage from one state to another. The marble door handles have been crafted into the shape of a boat to carry travellers through these states, whilst a huge guardian eye keeps a protective watch over those who undertake the voyage. Beneath the boat, and threatened by a single graphic harpoon, ocean lifeforms gather.... The work was designed by Robert Conybear and Robin Campbell.
