Tales From The Crypt

Look what arrived in the post for me this morning :) I have been wanting to read these stories since I was a kid.

Illustrations

Creating some illustrations for the book of old Gower ghost stories I am working on.

On I plough...

Sometimes navigating a pen across a piece of paper feels like dragging an anchor through a rainforest. But, with just 94 days left to put this beast to bed, on I plough...

Morning Glory (Heavenly Blue)

Look what greeted me on a grim and gloomy morning today :)

Pet Cemetary

What a lovely walk through the pet cemetery and bluebell woods 😎😎

The Walking Dead by Guy N Smith

Today, I finally finished reading Guy N Smith's The Walking Dead. Sadly, this highly prolific writer passed away on Christmas Eve 2020, having contracted Covid during the UK's second wave of the virus. He has left behind a rich catalogue of over 70 horror novels. Unfortunately this particular title, a sequel to his classic of the genre, The Sucking Pit, was not one of his finer works.

Gobble Progress...

Making good progress with this, the third of 4 interconnected festive folk horror tales. This story, titled Gobble, is an anti-carnist story about a boy determined not to let his farmer father kill his favourite turkey for Christmas...

Bottle Garden

A fair while ago, I found this large glass bottle looking neglected in an antiques market. £20 lighter in the pocket, I headed back home with it...

Fast forward a few years and the bottle has now found a use in my home - as a Carnie bottle garden :)

You can see more photos on the construction of this bottle garden on my Magickal Gardening site.

Gobble w.i.p.

The sun may be out but it is still a tad cold outside in the magickal garden. Still, with a nice cup of coffee to keep me warm and a notepad and pen to keep me company, I managed to get a good few pages of Gobble, the third story in the Solstice series, down on paper this morning.

And when the coffee was gone, and the chill breeze ate away at my comfort levels, I managed to continue with the folk horror tale inside...

A Bit of Fun

I am going to let you all into a little secret now. I don't enjoy writing. Like an asthmatic (which I am) struggling to breathe, it often feels like an arduous but mandatory chore putting pen to paper. And so I need an enjoyable and fun project to immerse myself in for a while...

Sunrise over the Bottle Tree

My garden bottle tree this morning. It's coming along nicely, but I need more coloured glass bottles...

Bottle Trees have a rich history in folklore. They are meant to bring good fortune to the garden by attracting bad spirits that prowl the earth and trapping them inside their bejewelled glass walls. The bottle tree is already sparking an idea for a short story some time in the future...

Mindful Adjustments

The Mindful Garden is definitely my favourite spot in the Magickal Garden at the moment :)

I have moved the pixies as they conjure all kinds of interesting thoughts and detracted from the peaceful nature of the Mindful Garden. I think they look happy in their new location :)

Next up is introducing these carnivorous wonders to the bog section of the garden :)
