Axolotl (2b)

I have been fascinated with axolotls since childhood, when I inherited an old wildlife book of strange animals. Unfortunately, I no longer have that book to share a picture of it, but one of the animals featured was of a leucistic axolotl. The image of this animal really piqued my interest and I could scarcely believe that such a weird-looking animal could exist in reality. Back in those days, there was no internet and I could find no further reference to such a thing as an axolotl throughout the entirety of my childhood. I believe that this was the first instance in my life that I felt the sense that there was something fascinating in the world that my mind had trouble grasping, and set up my interest in seeking out the extraordinary in the world.

My Bears

I've looked after these bears since I was a young 'un. At the moment they are sitting on a bookshelf near my writing desk.

55 years ago, the larger bear (Big Ted) was sat on my Nanna's settee, comforting yours truly.

The smaller of the two bears (Little Ted) was brought home by my grandfather, who worked at British Rail - the furry fella having been abandoned at his station's Lost and Found.

I am quite happy with this image of the two bears and am minded to start a new foto-project exploring the remains of my childhood. Watch this space, as they say...

I have a particular soft spot for the above image. I just wish the cow had turned her head slightly towards me as I took the short. Ay oh.

The first image from my next photography project- Passenger Seat:

As you can see, I am still a fan of low-res imagery. There are lots of reasons for this, which I will try to put into words  over the course of this project :)

Zephyr

Well, the concept behind this story really has been stuck in my head for a few years now. It was just waiting for a suitable storyline to accompany it. In quick flash of inspiration today, this has now made itself  known to me. Set in London, all I need now is a bit of spare time to do a little work on it...

Given the setting of this folk horror tale, I think a timely sharing of an audio recording I made a few years back in the London Underground:
