Beauty at an Ungodly Hour

Up at an ungodly hour to work a swap day. On the plus side, I was rewarded with a view of this beautiful sunrise!

Avalon 2: Day 74/100

Continuing work on the final edits of my second Glastonbury zine.

Cracking on with Gower Beach Guide

Cracking on my my Gower beach guide update:

Avalon 2 - Day 72 /100

My proof for Avalon 2 ~ The Glastonbury Zine arrived this evening. As anticipated, there are a few issues I need to address, but I am still hopeful of getting the zine published over the coming weekend:

Gower Beaches Update

Cracked on with the rewrite of my Explore Gower Beach guide today, making surprising good progress.

Enid Blyton - The Faraway Tree Books

The books had a profound effect on me as a kid. So much so, I honestly believe I wouldn't have become a writer without them:

Where I Am Update

I am not in too bad a place, project-wise at the moment. I am still waiting for my author's proof of AVALON 2 to arrive. I am expexting to get my hands on it on Wednesday and already know that it will need a few amendments. I am hoping to get it released officially on 10 August.

Work starts tomorrow on the reprint of GOWER BEACH, COVES & BAYS. This title, plus it's spin-off, SWANSEA BAY, should both be released by the end of September.

October is going to be devoted to getting a Gower Calenday on the market.

Finally, my 2025 projects will conclude mid-November with the publication of the first of my Christmas Ghost Stories. This will be a reworking of my story that was published earlier this year in GNS2.

Getting back to today, despite the headache that has plagued me since I woke up, I have done a fair bit of tidying, whilst working also working on my biggest Lego to date. Can you guess what it is at this early stage:

Beware the Full the Full Moon

Our deadly Aconite a.k.a. Wolf's Bane has bloomed. And wow, it looks stunning. Most definitely plant of the moment in the garden right now. Said to turn men into werewolves, I had better keep out of the garden during the next full moon:

"Even a man who is pure in heart
And says his prayers by night
May become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms
And the full moon is bright."

Weight Loss - Job Done!

I set myself a weight loss challenge around New Year to lose 3 stone. At the time, I weighed in at 13 stone 13 lb. Here is a pic of what I looked like around that time:

Chubby Me

Whilst my diet proceeded exceedingly well, with my weight dropping to the 11 stone 1lb mark by May, that last 2lb of fat I needed to lose to reach my goal was as stubborn as hell to shift.

This morning, however, the scales were very kind to me and clocked me in at 10 stone 13lb.

Here is a pic of me in the London Dungeons from last weekend, which shows my weight loss rather graphically:

Job done. 🙂

Anxiety Dreams

Whilst things have been going well in my day life lately, my dreams seem determined to balance things out by streaming all kinds of anxiety-provoking scenarios  to ruin my nights.

Yesterday was stressful. Editing videos with a new piece of software and trying to format Avalon 2 ready for publication has been a royal pain in the bum. Grrrrr...

Good newscin my office job though. Hybrid home working has finally been accepted for our department. Its on a 40/60 split though, which equates to x2 days a week working from home and x3 days working at the office, but its a big step in the right direction for as I am really struggling having to go in for five day stretches each week, and my annual leave can be counted on the fingers of one hand. And it doesn't renew until next March!

Anyway, I will close this post with a pic of something that caught my eye as soon as I woke up this morning:

The Son of the Werewolf by Guy N Smith (2)

continuing from this previous post, here is the book, featuring an introduction from yours truly, in the flesh - so to speak:

Ghost Story 2 Update

I took the opportunity of working on my second ghost story whilst on the train to London. As well as adding to the word count, I have also decided that the story works better as a single scene story, rather than the original 3-scene plot I originally envisioned it being. Best not to over complicate a simple idea, me thinks...
