A Little Pigeon History

Did you know that Rock Doves were bred like chickens are today for their their meat and eggs. Like chickens, they were bred to encourage regular menstration (eggs are birds' periods). When chickens replaced pigeons, the farmed pigeons were relealed en masse into the wild. Naturally breeding on cliffs, pigeons saw cities as cliffs, which is why they gather there to this day. Bred close to humans for so long in the past, they are still semi tame to this day. Here are a few Swansea pigeons hanging out outside Tesco Marina.

Beautiful Pigeons

Pigeons are beautiful. The risk of getting a disease from a pigeon is no higher than from other birds or pet, and the many diseases linked to them, are more common in domestic pets and farm animals. Here are two of the beauties, who mate for life and are another species cruelly treated by humans. https://www.littlegreenpigeon.co.uk/

And if you don"t believe pigeons are one of Britain's prettiest birds, you are wrong!

Here are two of the beauties, who mate for life, living their best lives along the River Tawe:
